Shanghai is a safe place to live and study. Reported crime rates are low, in particular against foreigners. Women feel safe in public places, also at night. There are no areas in Shanghai that one had better avoid because of security concerns. Nevertheless, your safety remains our primary concern while you are living and studying at Fudan University. We want to ensure that all CCSP students can enjoy the benefits of study abroad with as little risk as possible. Students’ safety remains a critical component of the CCSP programme. In order to make sure your experience in Shanghai will be safe and enjoyable, we encourage you to be cognizant of your surroundings at all time. Taking responsibility for your personal safety should be an essential component of your study abroad experience.
